I guess one might feel that the previous film Julie and Julia was the ultimate portrayal of Julia Child and hubby – but this new one sheds a different light -it appears Julia was not at all sure of her TV personality- but kept working to make it what we remember today. It was the growing pains of Public television and that complicated things. I think what Public television has become today is wonderful -but nobody has outshined Julia in the cooking milieu. Her spontaneity and humor – which is most prevalent in this portrayal- makes this series special. David Hyde Pierce deserves special mention as well as Sarah Lancashire and Bebe Neuwirth.
