I’ve put up the previous Nurse Ratched since I do favor this version of the character – it is more human in the negative sense and in some ways more believable than the current offering of Nurse Ratched. First of all, I have no qualms with the acting work of any in the current version. Judy Davis and Cynthia Nixon shine in what they are asked to do in the script. It’s all just too campy and over the top in tone – like that of a cartoon. That’s the purview of designers and directors and decision makers. The colors are too perfect and fashionable compared to the stark reality of the first film. But as my dear husband says – that’s entertainment.
